In today's political landscape, the voices of the extremes often dominate the discourse, their rigid opinions and polarizing stances garnering all the attention. Amidst this clamor, a crucial yet often neglected segment lies in the ideological middle of American society. Understanding the perspectives and values of this moderate majority is essential for elected officials crafting public policy that truly resonates with a broader cross-section of the American population.
Enter: Center Aisle Coalition (CAC).
Founded by former U.S. Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy, we are a coalition of Democrats, Republicans, and everything in between dedicated to one simple truism: better data leads to better policy.
We believe that by promoting data-driven, values-based programming and analyses that offer insight into America's ideological middle, elected officials and public policy advocates are better equipped to fight for bipartisan, commonsense ideas that grow the economy for America's middle class, strengthen our national security, and defend democracy abroad and here at home.
By acknowledging the ideological chasm between the partisan extremes and bridging the gap of nuanced views within the ideological middle, policymakers can pass legislation that more appropriately reflects the American people. In doing so, elected officials will enact better, longer lasting legislation that survives the swinging pendulum of American politics, reduces unintended consequences, and leads to a stable, more functioning democracy.
